UPDATE 18/4/2022!
Hi guys! What's up?
How's life? Did you have a good night's sleep?
Bermuda is finally walking on its feet again so I'm doing great~
I need your input on the puzzle minigame though--here's what it'll look like in game:
Do you think it's too dark? I got the inspiration from 'Black Puzzle' and I want to mimic a situation where you're trying to assemble mirror pieces in a dark room, a very dark room where you can barely see anything.
There's no time limit for the first minigame, but I'm planning to make a time limit for the final one with more puzzle pieces--but will it be too hard to clear? I might be worrying too much but I feel evil forcing you to finish this hard-to-see minigame ^^;
On the other hand, the programming is making some decent progress!
16 pages programmed in! I've polished a lot of the small scenes and made several minor backgrounds/special effects.
I want to do more.
I know that it can be better, should be better... especially the parts where the antagonist is involved. I sometimes find myself lacking, I need to study more; to not repeat the same lines too often, on how to make the antagonist express himself better. I feel like I don't do him justice Q_Q
I tell myself it'll be okay, I just need to re-read it again later but I can't help but worry @@
Hopefully, I can find what I'm looking for and I hope the polishing will turn alright...
Cheers for another productive week!
xoxo,
SweetChiel

I'm not happy about the time limit; but I would be okay with it if the time limit was optional. If there was a way to disable that for players who find that annoying, like myself, then you could keep a feel for a challenge without driving people away. Otherwise, the puzzle is fine. I actually really like the context of the pieces being difficult to see because it's dark in the area in which it is being solved.
Hi, Birdetta!
That's a great suggestion! I will definitely try to make that feature, so people can choose whether they want it to be more challenging or not OuO)b
I really understand the frustration involved with the time limit feature--I also would hate it if I almost finish the puzzle but losing because of the time limit >_< so I'm glad to have you here~ thank you for the input!
DAYUMM
You're so creative!! I admit I was a bit confused at first when i saw puzzle pieces and a black background, but that's actually a great idea! Keep up the good work!
Hugs~
Thanks, Mystix! You're too kind~ ^///^
I've posted a new update and there's a the sneak peek, showing the environment where you'll actually assemble the puzzle! There's a small spoiler involved but no harm done since I won't tell you where exactly this place is and why it's so darn dark x'D
Thanks again for being here, Mystix~ *huuggg
First of all welcome back. :)
How nice that your ceilings are back in one piece.
Thanks for the "demo" on the puzzle. That was very helpful ;)
I like it and it is good to finish despite the "darkness".
However, I wouldn't put a time limit on it like that with more pieces. That might be a bit too "annoying" for one or the other, since especially the parts with the black border (on black) are a bit "invisible".
I have one more suggestion, although I suspect this may be difficult for you to implement. I would find it more authentic if they were not puzzle pieces, but real fragments of a destroyed mirror, to be put back into the frame of the mirror, so to speak.
Don't overthink it too much ;)
I'm sure everything you present us will be wonderful.
<3 Yanonako
You're welcome and I'm glad to see you again, Yanonako~ \(^///^)/
Yes, I imagine it'll be frustrating if you lose the minigame just because of the time limit & the puzzle pieces actually spawned at random places (not at the same place), so yeah, I'm glad Birdetta suggested for the time limit to be optional! I think I have a way for it to work :3
As for the puzzle pieces to be real fragments... Yup, I've tried it and it's beyond my capabilities :'D
You see, the real maker of this minigame is SusanTheCat from Lemmasoft and there's this puzzle pieces template, which I'm not sure how they work with the programming @@
When I tinkered with the template, the minigame went ga-ga on me so I immediately back off lol
Last but not least, thank you for the reminder <3
I still have a long way to go, but thank you for trusting me ^///^

I think it's pretty good for an early puzzle without time limit. definitely gives right feel for doing a puzzle in a dark place. far as I can see from the image it's quite dark, but doesn't seem like it's too dark to be able to complete.
as for everything else, don't over think it. it's usually when you stress yourself out over something like that, that there are generally mistakes. when I'm having difficulty with a post when Roleplaying with a friend, I find it's easier to settle and make progress when I take a moment to meditate on the scene, and the characters involved. closing your eyes for a moment and letting everything unfold in your mind, before trying to put it onto paper/word doc/etc. can be enlightening, and sometimes there's unexpected inspiration to be found. otherwise it might be good to get outside help; like if you have a writing buddy you enjoy working with, who will take on a role you're struggling with. reading through how someone else aproaches the same character might give new insight into your own approach.
I hope that helps a little! I'm glad things are going better now! just remember to take breaks, and enjoy yourself. ^_^
As always, thank you for your support and for trying to find a solution for my overthinking issue, Tathalia! QuQ
I usually imagine the scene while I'm programming, the music helps me find the right mood to delve into and if I encounter a line that needs polishing, I will mull over it while looking for verb synonyms/sentence examples.
But yes, I think I need to spend more time to meditate and imagine the whole scene, one to another so thank you for pointing this out! ><
You too, I hope you're doing well and healthy over there ^///^
Don't forget to drink and rest plenty!

Always happy to be of help and support!
Life is good here. Ah! and here's a good laugh to help lift the day: my 3 year old is becoming more articulate, but he's chosen to speak in colors... and sometimes numbers. I has my own little Jujutsu Kaisen child lol. Most of the day is spent running around the house yelling things like " 2! 2! 2! YELLOW! GREEN! BLUE! RED! 10! 6!" at the top of his lungs.
hopes you have a wonderful start of the week!
remember to take good care of yourself ^_^

Hard to say without playing it. Maybe make the background a really dark-brown or whatever colour the room for the most part has to make the dark-gray puzzle pieces stick out a bit better?
Hi, Amberbaum! Thanks for dropping by~
I've posted a new update with a sneak peek about the environment where you'll assemble the puzzle! It will explain why the background must be black x'D
I'm so glad everything was repaired and you are back in your groove! Welcome back! :) As for the puzzle, it doesn't look too dark to me, but it's hard to say without actually trying it. I definitely think you should leave it as it is to set the tone and pace you are aiming for. However, if you think it may be too hard, you could add a setting to maybe auto-complete the puzzle for players that are struggling with it?
Hi, scriptomancer!
Me too, I've never felt so relieved x'D
Yes, I guess it depends on every person? I'm glad to hear that most of you didn't think it was too dark! Birdetta also suggested the time limit to be optional so people can adjust the difficulty themselves ^.^ if they want it to be more challenging, just click yes whenever the minigame appears
As for the auto-complete function... hmmm... maybe a skip feature?
I don't quite like it because the experience of assembling the puzzle is quite important in the story ><
Still, thanks for the suggestion and for being here, scriptomancer ^////^
hi, SweetChiel, love your works <3
We wouldn't know if this mini game is too hard until we try it. i think you should leave it the way you intended, but maybe add a short memo before puzzle. like "hey guys ahead will be important\time-limited feature, maybe you want to save or q.save". it may ruin a bit a surprise effect when player dont expect to solve a puzzle within a limited time, but will be easier for you to create atmosphere you want and for player to see what will happen in both cases (succeed and fail the puzzle).
Hope i conveyed the idea properly <3 English is not my native language, although i understand it perfectly fine, grammar is not my strong suit
Hi, Averisa!
Yes, like 'find the fragment/missing item' minigame, I'm planning to always make it obvious so people can save first before the actual minigame starts ^.^
The puzzle minigame only happens in a specific place--the newest update have a sneak peek about the environment where you'll assemble the puzzle--so yup, you should have plenty of time to prepare OuO)b
Birdetta also suggested the time limit to be optional and I think it's a great idea! Those who want the last puzzle to be more challenging can pick it, but those who doesn't want to/find it annoying can leisurely complete it~
Last but not least, your english is fine so don't worry~ My grammar is also not the best, hence I need to polish the script multiple times x'D (my poor proofreaders)
Thanks again for dropping by!
